You probably landed on this page trying to seek out answers about Why am I always tired and have no energy. Even before you started your search, you had few reasons ready in your head. Just like me most people blame it on weather, some stress at work, lacking proper Vitamins and minerals, not eating well, sleep disorders, less intake of water, etc. While for most of us one or few of the above is the reason but there are few out there that suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

I am not a doctor but have heard that CFS is not only difficult to diagnose but also difficult to cure. It is hard to identify or diagnose it since fatigue is always a part of urban life and we tend to ignore signs.

What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) is a disorder categorized by extreme fatigue/ tiredness that rest won’t cure. CFS can’t be explained by an underlying medical condition. The fatigue is accompanied by cognitive dysfunction and impairment of daily functioning that persists for more than six months. CFS is a biological illness and not a psychologic disorder.

The cause of CFS is unclear. Most researchers claim some viral infection or stress as a cause. While few experts believe CFS might be triggered by a combination of factors.

Obviously! Watching the symptoms, it is confirmed that no single test can confirm a diagnosis of CFS. Mostly doctors do a variety of test, trying to rule out other health problems that have similar symptoms.

It is hard to differentiate symptoms since most people think about why am i always tired , but hardly take it seriously.

If you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness

How to be positive and happy

Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

With variety of symptoms of CFS that can vary from person to person, the severity of symptoms can fluctuate from day to day. Few symptoms are -

  • Fatigue
  • Problems with memory or concentration
  • Sore throat
  • Headaches
  • Enlarged lymph nodes in your neck or armpits
  • Unexplained muscle or joint pain
  • Dizziness that worsens with moving from lying down or sitting to standing
  • Unrefreshing sleep
  • Extreme exhaustion after physical or mental exercise

Causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Some people may be born with a predisposition for the disorder, which is then triggered by a combination of factors. Potential triggers include:

  • Viral infections. Because some people develop CFS after having a viral infection, researchers question whether some viruses might trigger the disorder.
  • Immune system problems. The immune systems of people who have chronic fatigue syndrome appear to be impaired slightly, but it’s unclear if this impairment is enough to actually cause the disorder.
  • Hormonal imbalances. People who have chronic fatigue syndrome also sometimes experience abnormal blood levels of hormones produced in the hypothalamus, pituitary glands or adrenal glands. But the significance of these abnormalities is still unknown.
  • Physical or emotional trauma. Some people report that they experienced an injury, surgery or significant emotional stress shortly before their symptoms began.
